Blue Wave turns the sea into a rhythm. Pick any beach or coast in the world and hear its live wave height, wave period and water temperature as a Euclidean rhythm. Bigger waves play more notes. Longer swells give more steps. Warmer water plays higher.
It also shows surf conditions, what to wear in the water, and fun facts about the sea. Free, in your browser, no sign up. Made by Jim Forrest.
Live sea waves from around the world, played as a rhythm.

Each ring is one beach. It is a loop of steps, and the sweep of light shows where the music is now.
On Auto, every place gets its own key, scale, chords and sound, picked from where it is and how warm its sea is. Wave height sets how many hits, wave period sets the steps, temperature sets the pitch. The chord changes every four bars. Shift key moves everything up a tone and comes round again after six moves.

Every ring hit is a note. The chord is held for four bars. Four controllers follow the sea: wave energy on CC 74, wind on CC 12, wave period on CC 91, sea warmth on CC 93. Tempo goes out as MIDI clock, with start and stop, and follows the Tempo slider. In Ableton, switch on Sync for the port and press Ext.
